NETWORKING, EVENTS AND EDUCATIONAL WORK
Local Action Concept against Right-wing Extremism and Racism in the District of Herford The Work and Life initiative of the German Trade Union Confederation / Association of Adult Education (DGB/VHS) in the District of Herford
All people find right-wing extremism and racism in their daily lives, in different places and in different ways: whether hidden or open, on the street, in educational institutions, at work, in the world of politics or in sports and leisure. To raise awareness for discrimination and to work successfully to change one’s own views and the thoughts and actions of others requires the cooperation of all the people in a district with their different perspectives and experiences.
Many people in the district of Herford are committed to solidarity. The objective of the "Local Action Concept Against Right-Wing Extremism and Racism in the Herford District" is to network existing activities against right-wing extremism, to support them with their ideas and projects, to stimulate further possibilities, and to strengthen a common basis against racism and right-wing extremism which is supported by everyone in the district of Herford. As the specialist and coordination office of the state programme ›NRWeltoffen‹ (a cosmopolitan North Rhine Westphalia) in the district of Herford, we want to bring together existing strategies, actions and projects both in civil society and in the institutions. The range of different participants is becoming increasingly visible on our website.
We welcome people with their ideas, projects and initiatives against right-wing extremism and orient our assistance towards the things that they need for their work. We also want to encourage new and interested people to stand up against right-wing extremism. People affected by racism should receive support as quickly and easily as possible.
We support people in the district of Herford in the implementation of educational events against right-wing extremism with financial assistance and with content.
We are well connected to the locally established contact persons for content-related questions regarding lectures, discussions, further education and publications.
The final result is an action concept that all committed people in the district of Herford can refer to – a guide to the mobilisation of democratic civil society in the district of Herford.
